How it works
Once your accounts are set up, we’ll begin trading on your behalf. Every trade is fully hedged, meaning you’re completely shielded from market volatility. In fact, thanks to this hedging strategy, we already know your returns before executing your trades—it’s simply a matter of waiting for your funds to settle.
Our vertically integrated system allows us to track your funds throughout the entire process, ensuring full transparency and efficiency.
Opening these accounts is a one-time setup that typically takes about a week, with the foreign exchange holding account requiring the longest.
Each Orbit cycle is completed in approximately one business day, after which your funds will be deposited back into your Investec account.

In this example, assume the following:

- The returns throughout the year are a steady 1.5% nett return,
- You can obtain the full R10m FIA allowance from SARS.
- You request that all profits are withdrawn as they are made.
We could transfer a total of R11m outside of South Africa for the calendar year (your SDA of R1m and your FIA of R10m). Because you have requested to withdraw all profits as they are made, your Orbiting amount will stay the same at R100k throughout the year.
You will do 110 Orbits in the year, taking an estimated 9 months to fully realise your profit. After 9 months you would have withdrawn R165k in profit and still have R100k invested in Orbits (that you can withdraw too).
In this example, assume the following:
- You have invested R100k,
- The returns throughout the year are a steady 1.5% nett return,
- You can obtain the full R10m FIA allowance from SARS.
- You request that all profits are reinvested as they are made.
We could transfer a total of R11m outside of South Africa for the calendar year (your SDA of R1m and your FIA of R10m). Because you have requested to reinvest all profits as they are made, your Orbiting amount will increase gradually throughout the year, up to about R260k.
You will do 66 Orbits in the year, taking an estimated 6 months to fully realise your profit.
After 6 months, you would have a total of R265k invested in Orbits (which you can withdraw fully).
In this example, assume the following:
- You have invested R250k,
- The returns throughout the year are a steady 1.5% nett return,
- You can obtain the full R10m FIA allowance from SARS.
- You request that all profits are reinvested as they are made.
We could transfer a total of R11m outside of South Africa for the calendar year (your SDA of R1m and your FIA of R10m). Because you have requested to reinvest all profits as they are made, your Orbiting amount will increase gradually throughout the year, up to about R410k.
You will do 35 Orbits in the year, taking an estimated 3 months to fully realise your profit.
After 3 months, you would have a total of R415k invested in Orbits (which you can withdraw fully).

Withdrawals are processed directly through your linked Investec account, and there are no restrictions or penalties for withdrawing your funds. If you decide to stop using our service, simply withdraw your funds and stop initiating new Orbits—no formal termination is required.

To start using Orbits, you’ll need to meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Proof of Residence: Provide proof of residence in South Africa or submit an affidavit.
