NB: You only need to create one local exchange – either Luno or VALR

Luno’s registration process is quite clunky and cumbersome, and paired with their new updated UI which is horrible to navigate through makes for a rather difficult process. This section attempts to guide you through the steps required. You need to get verified to level 3.

High level steps:

• Register on Luno and verify to level 1 (SMS)
• Verify to level 3 (ID and Proof of Res)
• Add your bank details
• Create an API key
• Enabling cryptocurrency withdrawals
• Enable 2FA

What you’ll need:

1. ID or Passport
2. Proof of Residence in SA
3. SA cellphone number to receive SMSs – Luno gets suspicious if you’re using a number outside the country.
4. [OPTIONAL] A selfie photo. You can do this as part of the below process using your webcam.
